Market may open weak

Trading of Nifty 50 index futures on the Singapore stock exchange indicates that the Nifty could fall 45 points at the opening bell.

Overseas, Asian stocks fell as investors assessed prospects for continuing trade tensions between US and China. US stocks climbed on Friday, 22 June 2018 following gains in Europe as OPEC's plans to boost output less than some investors had anticipated sent oil on a tear.

Back home, trading for the week ended on a buoyant note on Friday, 22 June 2018 as the key benchmark indices logged modest gains amid high intraday volatility. The barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, gained 257.21 points or 0.73% at 35,689.60. The Nifty 50 index gained 80.75 points or 0.75% at 10,821.85.

The trading activity on that day showed that the foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 1343.44 crore on Friday, 22 June 2018, as per provisional data released by the stock exchanges. Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 1105.76 crore on Friday, 22 June 2018, as per provisional data.
