Trading of Nifty 50 index futures on the Singapore stock exchange indicates that the Nifty could rise 33 points at the opening bell.

Overseas, Asian stocks edged higher following a series of steps by China shifting to stimulus mode. US equity indexes closed mostly lower Thursday thanks to Facebook Inc.'s historic plunge, as gains in the energy and industrial sectors weren't enough to offset the social network's meltdown.

Back home, key benchmark indices logged modest gains in volatile session of trade yesterday, 26 July 2018. The barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, rose 126.41 points or 0.34% to settle at 36,984.64. The Nifty 50 index rose 35.30 points or 0.32% to settle at 11,167.30. Better-than-expected June 2018 quarterly results from index pivotals boosted sentiment on the domestic bourses.

The trading activity on that day showed that the foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 2453.57 crore yesterday, 26 July 2018, as per provisional data released by the stock exchanges. Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 2716.04 crore yesterday, 26 July 2018, as per provisional data.

Among corporate news, HCL Technologies, ICICI Bank and Reliance Industries will announce their June 2018 quarterly result today, 27 July 2018.
