LPG and aviation fuel prices rise sharply amid global energy disruptions
(01-Apr-2026, 10:50 Hours IST)
Amid ongoing global energy supply challenges, state-run oil marketing companies in India have increased prices of commercial LPG and aviation turbine fuel (ATF), leading to a sharp rise across key fuel categories.

The price of a 19kg commercial LPG cylinder has been raised by Rs. 195.5, taking the cost in Delhi from Rs. 1,883 on March 7 to Rs. 2,078.50. This marks a 10.4% increase and is the second hike within a month. Commercial LPG is commonly used by hotels, restaurants, and hostels.

Earlier, on March 7, the same category saw a price increase of Rs. 114.50, bringing the rate to Rs. 1,883 per cylinder in Delhi. On that date, domestic LPG (14.2kg cylinder) prices were also raised by Rs. 60 nationwide, pushing the retail price in Delhi to Rs. 913, the highest level since August 2023.

Aviation turbine fuel prices have risen even more sharply. For domestic airlines, ATF prices in Delhi surged from Rs. 96,638.14 per kilolitre on March 1 to Rs. 207,341.22, a jump of 114.55%.

For international airlines, ATF prices increased from $816.91 per kilolitre on March 1 to $1,690.81 from April 1 in Delhi, reflecting a 107% rise.

India's fuel retail market is largely controlled by three state-run companies: Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited.
