Kharif sowing area down marginally on year

India's Kharif acreage stood at 967.92 lakh hectares as of 7 August 2026, down 17.96 lakh hectares, or 1.82%, from 985.89 lakh hectares a year ago, latest data showed. Area under Rice stood at 344.78 lakh hectares, down around 4.40% on year.
