Retreating oil prices add shine to U.S. Stocks

US equities advanced on Monday, propelling the Nasdaq to a fresh closing high unseen in nearly four months. A notable decline in oil prices and the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield retreating below 5% bolstered investor sentiment. The S&P 500 increased 1.49% to settle at 7,764.70 points, the Nasdaq Composite rose 2.26% to 27,122.090, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.71% to 52,048.83. The US 10-year yield decreased to 4.95%, remaining below the key 5% level in the absence of significant economic data. Concurrently, WTI crude oil futures plummeted approximately 5% as the price breached the $100 per barrel level. Last week, the Dow declined 1.7% for its steepest loss since March. The S&P 500 retreated roughly 0.1%. Only the technology-centric Nasdaq registered a gain, up 0.7%. However, the DOW has established support near its three-month low, currently underpinning the broader uptrend for US equities.
