The key equity barometers traded with marginal losses in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 23312-23231. Nifty Media and Nifty IT shares advanced, while Nifty Realty and Nifty Metal shares declined.
At 10:45 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, moved lower by 568.97 points or 0.76% to 74,333.62. The Nifty 50 index lost 184 points or 0.78% to 23,293.80.
The broader market performed better than frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index shed 0.81% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index decreased by 0.84%.
The market breadth was unfavorable. On the BSE, 1409 shares rose and 3204 shares fell. A total of 237 shares were unchanged.
Nifty Media index inched up 0.37% to 1540. The index has inched lower by 1.58% in last one month and moved lower by 4.73% over last one year. Sun TV Network, gaining 4.57%, led the gainers followed by PVR Inox, inching higher 1.27% and Tips Music, adding 0.75%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 4 are reporting gains today.
Nifty IT index moved higher by 0.15% to 28935. The index has declined 8.66% in last one month and recorded sharp losses of 20.16% over last one year. Tech Mahindra, edging up 2.16%, led the gainers followed by HCL Technologies, up 1.68% and Infosys, up 0.73%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 6 are reporting gains today.
Nifty Realty index posted steep losses of 4.06%. The index has edged lower 2.88% in last one month and inched down 1.33% over last one year. Lodha Developers, declining 7.52%, led the losers followed by Godrej Propert., moving lower 6.42% and Prestige Estates, losing 4.25%, respectively. All 10 index constituents are reporting losses today.
Out of 14 sectoral indices on NSE, 12 are in red today. Nifty Media index is lower by 1.58% in last one month and is down 4.73% over last year. Nifty Realty index has slumped 2.88% in last one month and is modestly lower by 1.33% over last one year.
From NIFTY50 index, Vodafone Idea, Power Grid Corpn AND Pine Labs are leading in terms of volumes today, clocking turnover of 2733.22 lakh shares, 15458.13 lakh shares and 9040.1 lakh shares respectively.
Asian markets sank on Friday. China’s Shanghai composite is sharply lower by 1.68%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading lower by 0.86%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is firmly lower by 2.15%.
NIFTY50 Sep-26 futures are in discount of 54.20 points today.
