Gold retreats ahead of key US PPI data

Gold futures fell towards $4,400 an ounce on Thursday as investors took profits amid weakness in oil and commodity markets, which also affected silver prices. Silver benchmark futures dropped nearly 2% to $64.50 an ounce. In India, MCX October gold futures decreased by 0.7% to ?1,53,793 per 10 grams, and September silver futures fell over 1% to Rs 234,585 per kg. The declines occurred even as the dollar index dipped below 100, with traders remaining cautious ahead of the US Producer Price Index report, which could influence future bullion trends.
